Villa told Tuanzebe transfer is a ‘no brainer’ after key update

Aston Villa fans would welcome a move for Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe amid claims the defender wants to leave Old Trafford on loan this summer.

The centre-back enjoyed a profitable loan spell at B6 from January 2018 to June the following year and became a hit with claret and blue fans.

But his chances of holding down a place in the United first-team look remote with Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof ahead of him in the pecking order.

And according to ESPN, Tuanzebe is now contemplating a season away from United in a bid to get much-needed first-team football.

And Villa fans have wasted no time in jumping on the news that the defender is looking for a move.

We took a look on Twitter to see what Villa fans had to say.

Do you think Villa should now make their move? Let us know in the comments below.

Chris C: “I like the idea of bringing back Tuanzebe but on a loan? I’m not too sure.

“At this stage of his career, I think Axel needs to move on from United. Does anyone else really fancy improving one of our rivals players to just send him back?

SD Villain: “Surely we need to get Tuanzebe on loan now with an option to buy. He is wasted at United.”

Bhavik: “Surely a no brainer for AVFC given Engles has left.”

“Being 23 now, I want to be playing week in, week out,” he said.

Tuanzebe has not managed to break into the United first-team as he would have hoped, but retains optimism that he can become a regular with his boyhood club and not leave Old Trafford.

“I’ve had a taste of it, being at Villa. I enjoyed it,” he said.

“That’s something I wanted to replicate here. I haven’t had the run of games that I’ve hoped for, but, next season, I’ll definitely be playing football.

“When I was on loan, the pressure was obviously different. Not to say that Villa aren’t a big club, but you know, Man United are top of the top and the fans expect something. Even ourselves, we expect performances week in, week out, we expect wins week in, week out – no matter who the opponent is.

“You just need to understand that and take it from there really.”
