Villa tipped to seal transfer that makes ‘absolute sense’

Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey.

According to Italian website Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Villa were keen on the player along with Celtic, Rangers and German giants Bayern Munich.

Hickey moved from Hearts to Bologna in September last year having spent time at Celtic before with the player growing up in Glasgow.

The Scotland Under-17 international only played 12 matches last season, missing the majority of the season because of a shoulder injury.

Villa player hints at transfer after surprise update emerges

Aston Villa youth defender Patrick Zito was on trial for Stoke City Under-23s on Friday night.

The 18-year-old was named in Stoke’s U23 matchday squad for the visit to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham in the Premier League.

Kevin Russell’s Stoke side were beaten 2-1 on the night despite Adam Porter’s second half beauty levelling the scores before the hour mark.

Zito, who was named in Mark Delaney’s Villa squad to face Burton Albion in the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday night, was a surprise inclusion for Stoke’s U23s considering he’d played a solid role in Villa’s Premier League 2 campaign so far this term.

Lingard wanted by Newcastle amid Villa transfer link

Newcastle United are already making their plans for the January transfer window after the completion of the takeover at the club this week.

After 14 years under the ownership of Mike Ashley, a long-protracted Saudi Arabia takeover of the club was met with jubilation from fans with the club becoming one of the richest in the Premier League.

It has led to speculation over who the club could target when the transfer window opens, with Newcastle possibly competing with Villa over the signing of players.

One of those players could be Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard.

Arsenal receive warning as ‘top class’ Villa transfer link emerges

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell is enthused by his old side being linked with Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

Campbell, though, does not see Villa selling the forward.

Watkins has been mentioned in the national press as a potential transfer target for Arsenal while Emirates Stadium boss Mikel Artera has also been credited with an interest in Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Arsenal are said to have one eye on the New Year with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, both out of contract in the summer, able to start negotiating with overseas clubs in January about a summer move for free.
