Tributes to ‘kindest boy’ after body found at Glasgow Green

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to “the kindest boy with a gold heart” after Timothy Chiwaula’s body was pulled from water near Glasgow Green.

A frantic search had been launched for the 23-year-old acting student after he vanished from the city’s Old Shettleston Road area at around 8.45pm on Monday, October 11.

At around 4am on Friday, October 22 police were called after his body was discovered before family were made aware.

Timothy’s death has left his family and friends completely devastated.

The 23-year-old was an acting student at Glasgow’s Royal Conservatoire

Tributes have poured in for the popular student, who was also known as Timo or Tim and was a British national originally from Malawi.

He was studying for a BA Acting degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland – and a film production company in Blantyre, Malawi, where Timo was born, led the tributes on Facebook.

Mlambe Entertainment said: “With a heavy and broken heart, Mlambe Entertainment announce the death of Timothy Chiwaula, one of our best actors.

“He was the kindest boy with a gold heart. Rest In Peace.”

Meanwhile, Power Global International said: “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the Association of Malawians in Scotland informs you all that our young man Timothy Chiwaula was found dead today.

“We tried to look for you son and now we leave it in God’s hands. We thank God for your beautiful life.”

Yasmine Hill said: “So sad. Such a lovely boy gutted to see this, rest in peace Timo Chiwaula.”

Paul McGinley added: “Sparing more than a thought for Joseph Ngwane Chiwaula and his family right now. 23 is no age to ever lose anyone let alone a brother. Only had the pleasure of meeting Timothy once and he’s a real good guy.

“R.I.P Timothy. Thinking of Joseph and the family and sending thoughts and prayers to great people.”

Madda Chinguwo said: “They have found Timothy’s Body. I’m so heartbroken”

And Jolly Bro simply said: “I’m so sad and heartbroken. May his soul rest in peace.”

Earlier in the week Timo’s brother, Joseph, told the Record he was at a loss as to why his sibling had disappeared and that his phone and wallet had been left in the house.

He said: “I tried calling him and it just kept ringing. I have got no clue [why he has left].

“His friends had been with him on Sunday night watching football in the house and that was the last time they were in touch with him.”

Appealing directly to his brother, he added: “We just want you to come back home – whatever has happened. My head is all over the place.”

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Timo’s death and police say a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
