This stunning Tamworth pub garden has been h-aled as one of the best in the entire country.
The Tamworth Tap in Market Street is a finalist in the best pub garden category at the Great British Pub Awards 2021 and in with a chance of winning the crown alongside The Brisley Bell – Dereham, Norfolk, The Cock Inn – Mugginton, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, The Shibden Mill Inn – Shibden, West Yorkshire, The Woodmans Arms – Whickham, Tyne and Wear and The Weeping Willow – Lower Green, Higham, Suffolk.
Hundreds of pubs entered and have been put through two rigorous rounds of judging to determine the very best in the nation.
Competition organisers told the Tap: “It’s a fantastic achievement to be part of the final shortlist and you should be immensely proud of what you have done during such a difficult time for all pubs across the country. You now stand a chance of being crowned as the national champion for your category.”
Owner George Greenaway beamed: “We are thrilled to have been named as national finalists for the best pub garden at this year’s Great British Pub Awards.
“We are so proud of our outdoor area; it’s more than a pub garden – it’s an experience. The views, the atmosphere and the setting are simply stunning and barely anyone leaves without passing comment.
“We often hear the word ‘wow’ uttered as people arrive and we are a hotspot for selfies and Instagram with many customers likening their visit to being on holiday.
“This nomination will be a huge boost but also the recognition, for the hard work, from industry leaders is, personally, a massive drive.”
The award nomination is no fluke either. The pub’s team have put a lot of work into making it what it is today.
George explains: “We are driven by attention to detail, individuality, high standards, our customers and the unique character of our space.
“We have worked relentlessly, using the time during lockdown, to create the ultimate and much missed pub garden experience for our customers for when we reopened.
“We are blessed with such an incredible space which we have further expanded and enhanced. The Hop Yard has kept the Tap and our loyal ‘Tappers’ going, during a very difficult time.
“We will continue to evolve and have many more projects on the horizon.”
