Tickets to this year’s Polar Express Christmas train ride are selling out fast.
Booking lines opened in August for the event, which runs at Telford Steam Railway, and families have been signing up for some festive fun ever since.
Having missed out on yuletide experiences last year due to the Covid pandemic, many people are booking their tickets for Christmas events early this year.
This is an immersive recreation inspired by the iconic Polar Express film where families get to go on a ‘wonder-filled steam rail trip’ to meet Santa.
Lots of passengers arrive in their PJs and wait on the festively decorated station to be invited aboard by the Conductor as he punches their golden tickets.
Once on board, chefs entertain people all the way to the North Pole, serving cookies with hot chocolate and telling the story of the Polar Express from a giant book as elements of the tale come to life.
Upon reaching the North Pole, Santa and his elves get on board the train to meet children and give them a gift. Then the chefs sing carols as the train chugs its way back to the station.
This year there will be Polar Express stalls full of gifts, food and souvenirs to explore too at the station too, which is on Bridge Road, Horsehay in Telford.
The event runs on selected dates from November 26 to December 23 but dates are selling out fast. Book yours here
When we looked for standard class tickets on September 15, we found that tickets were sold out or limited on most weekends, including December 3, 4, 10, 11, 12 and from December 16 to 23.
Tickets are being sold in pairs this year to help with Covid social distancing rules. Tickets are still currently available for November 26, 28 and 30 plus December 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15 but they are likely to be booked up soon.
There’s similar availability for premium tickets too, which include a souvenir mug and bag.
