The Midlands’ new designer shopping village is already set to expand with 50 new shops
Fewer than 100 days after it first opened, bosses at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands at Cannock announced plans to extend the £160million retail centre.
The plans include 50 new retail units and more parking at the shopping centre just off Eastern Way.
The eagerly-awaited outlet welcomed customers for the first time on April 12. It joined the chain’s six other designer outlets at Swindon, York, East Midlands, Cheshire Oaks, Bridgend and Ashford.
Mike Thomas, centre manager for McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands, said: “As part of our drive to continually enhance the shopping and leisure experience for centre guests, we are working on plans for a proposed expansion which will include space for an additional 50 retail units and increase on-site parking.”
Just over three months after its launch, outlet bosses said footfall and customer spend had exceeded expectations significantly.
So far, 80 per cent of the retail units have been leased. Last week, Fred Perry became the latest store to open.
It is the latest big name to open a store at the outlet since the launch. Others include Nike, Boss, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Ted Baker, Coach, Radley, Le Creuset and Yankee Candle.
The outlet, in Eastern Way, Cannock, is open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm on Saturdays and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.
