A mother and son and their family friend who died in a drowning tragedy in Loch Lomond have been named.
Edina Olahova, 29, and her son Rana Haris Ali, 9, died alongside their friend Mohammad Asim Raza, 41, around 6.40pm on Saturday evening.
A seven-year-old boy is currently in intensive care at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
The two families were pictured earlier in the day enjoying the weather near the banks of the loch hours before the tragedy.
A family friend shared news of the tragedy on Sunday evening.
He said: “Surely we belong to Allah (SWT) and to Him we shall return.”
It is with great regret that I inform you that my friend, Rana Waris Ali’s 9 year old child Rana Haris Ali and my friends wife Edina Olahova along with our common friend, Muhammad Asim Raza, have drowned in Loch Lomond.
“The child of Muhammad Asim Raza is in ICU, please pray for his health.”
A statement from Police Scotland read: “Police were called around 6.40pm on Saturday, 24 July, 2021 following the report of concerns for people in the water near Pulpit Rock, Ardlui.
“A multi-agency operation took place and sadly, three people were pronounced dead at the scene.
“Formal identification has still to take place but the family of a 41-year-old man, 29-year-old woman and 9-year-old boy have been made aware.
“A 7-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and is currently in intensive care.
“A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Police recovered the body of a 13-year-old boy last night in the water at Hazelbank.
A huge rescue effort was launched but the youngster could not be saved.
The child is the sixth person to die in Scottish waters this weekend.
On Saturday night 11-year-old Dean Irvine drowned in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire and 16-year-old Connor Markward lost his life at Loch Lomond on Friday.
