Grand Designs viewers gobsmacked by ‘bizarre’ inside of ‘flying’ home

Grand Designs viewers were shocked by the “bizarre” interior of a ‘flying home’ on the programme.

Kevin McCloud was back hosting the Channel 4 show and was joined by 63-year-old Geoff in Friday night’s episode (October 13).

He was risking every asset he had to build the flood-resistant home on the Essex coast budgeted at a massive £700,000.

The dramatically cantilevered steel framed house had more than just a difficult design – it was also planned to be built right on a flood plain.

And with Covid and Geoff struggling to sell his luxury villa in Spain, the episode was fraught with issues.

But he eventually pulled the project off, and insisted he didn’t go over budget, telling Kevin: “I wrote down what I was going to spend and I stuck to it.”

Viewers were shocked when Kevin was given a tour around the inside of the home though.

Grand Designs returns to Channel 4 on Wednesday at 9pm.
