The family of two teen girls raped by a vile sex predator when they were children have slammed his five year prison sentence and say his victims will “suffer from this for the rest of their lives”.
Darren Fleming was sentenced to five years behind bars for the rape of two girls when they were aged just eight and nine-years-old.
Fleming, now 24, carried out the attacks when he was between 15 to 20-years-old from 2011 to 2016 at a number of locations including in Kilsyth, Lanarkshire.
The victims’ family have said they are “disgusted” by the “short” jail time he was handed and say they have been left “torn apart” by his actions.

A family member told the Daily Record: “The family is absolutely disgusted at the short five year jail term.
“The way we see it is that it was two girls and he was sentenced to five years which is two-and-a-half years for each child and that is just not enough.
“They will suffer from this for the rest of their lives but he will get out.”
Fleming, who denies all allegations, was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow after his victims had the bravery to come forward and report the crimes.

Their family member told how the ordeal has taken its toll on everyone around them: “It has torn our family apart. As a whole, we will not recover from what has happened but we have to concentrate on taking care of the girls.
“I just want everyone to know what he has done.”
The victims now plan to try and put Fleming’s evil actions behind them and move forward.
The family member said: “We are delighted that the girls have got the justice that they were looking for.
“They can now walk around feeling a bit more at ease.
“We just have to concentrate on putting it behind them and let the girls get on with their lives and look towards the future.”
When sentencing, Lord Armstrong told Fleming: “I have read the victim impact statements and the terms clearly indicate the harm caused.
“You callously robbed them of the innocence of their childhood.
“I note that you continue to deny responsibility for the crimes and have displayed no empathy for your victims.
“I must recognise that the offences are disturbing and grave.”
Fleming was also put on the sex offenders list indefinitely.
