Fishing in Fortnite lets you catch everything from weapons, gear and fish.
Having existed in the game as a way to collect new rewards since Chapter 2, Season 1, each new season of the game brings a new fish for players to catch across the battle royale game.
Usually providing an aid of some sort in the game rather than just be a novelty, fishing remains an useful activity even now in Season 8 of Fortnite.
Sometimes fishing is part of in-game challenges. For example, The Punchcard Quests in Week 3 require you to consume a fish, restore health with one, and throw another one back in the water.
Here’s your full guide to fishing in the game including how to find a fishing rod, steps for fishing , the best fishing spots and the various fishing effects on offer and their uses:
How do you find a Fortnite fishing rod?
Before you can start fishing you’ll need a fishing rod. Easy to obtain, you can find them as weapons in chests or as loot on the ground around the Fortnite Island, especially near water bodies or inside barrels.
Once you’ve collected the rod, you’re all set to catch some fish. In addition to the fishing rods, you may also come across Harpoons.
How do you fish in Fortnite?
You’ll know you’re near a good fishing spot once you spot white ripples in the water which indicate signs of underwater creatures.
Some ideal spots are Lazy Lake, Believer Beach, and the pond above Retail Row – all of which contain barrels for you to search through if you haven’t already acquired a fishing rod already.
