Dean Irvine to be laid to res in signed Celtic top after supercar send off

Hamilton schoolboy Dean Irvine will have the perfect send off after a £2.7million supercar was secured by loved ones for his funeral.

And the 11-year-old, who tragically drowned while out playing in Stonehouse last weekend, will also be wearing the colours of his beloved Celtic when he is laid to rest.

It followed pleas by Dean’s family and friends to have his shirt signed by Hoops’ stars, with the club confirming the top is already on the youngster as his funeral is arranged for next Thursday.

Fondly known as “wee Dean” in the community, the Hillhouse lad loved his cars, which inspired a fantastic fundraising drive by family friend Marina Weir who wanted to give Dean “the best send off as possible”.

Now, Marina is delighted to confirm she has received an email from someone willing to help out, allowing his Bugatti Chiron to be used for Dean’s funeral next week.

In an emotional post she said: “I done it for you wee Deano.

“My heart is bursting right now, after receiving this email. I’ve cried ever since I got it! I promised your family I would get you a Bugatti and I’ve managed to sort it for you darling!

“Fly high Deano.”

The email sent to Marina confirmed the owner of the “very rare” supercar was “willing to help”.

Dean sadly passed away on Saturday at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Park in Stonehouse. Emergency services rushed to the scene but were unable to save the youngster who had gotten into difficulty in the water.

The fundraising page set up to help towards Dean’s funeral costs has so far raised £3480.
