Brazilian TV presenter in fresh Villa rant after Luiz controversy

Former Brazilian footballer Neto has launched a fresh Aston Villa rant after comparing the club to a non-league side in Brazil.

The Corinthians legend sparked controversy yesterday when he complained about Douglas Luiz’s call-up to the international squad by their manager Tite.

Speaking on his Donos da Bola show, Neto said: “Do you want Tite’s biggest shame in relation to the game against Venezuela?

“Summoned the Aston Villa player. Does anyone know who plays for Aston Villa? How can you not call up Danilo, from Palmeiras? Willian Aaron is playing a lot. He called Douglas Luiz.”

That brought an instant response from Luiz who called him “the clown on television” amid a valiant defence of the former European champions after Neto went on to compare Villa to Portuguesa Santista who are a non-league side in Brazil.

“I didn’t like the way he said it again, he said that Aston Vila are a Portuguesa Santista who speak English. I looked at his resume and he hasn’t played in any big team outside Brazil. Who’s Neto to talk about Aston Vila, who for me are European giants.”

You, Neto, you didn’t play anywhere, you talk too much. I don’t know who gave you the nickname of crack. But it’s fine, life goes on.”

However, Neto took another swipe on Villa in which he used his Instagram following, which is nearly 2m, to prove his point about Villa’s standing.

He said: “I have double the followers of Aston Villa. Look at it, I have almost 2m followers on Instagram. Aston Villa only have 1.3m…

“Put him [Douglas Luiz] on, put him on.. He said I only played for small clubs, I played for Corinthians, I’m one of the club’s biggest legends.”
