Aston Villa told to take action on ‘pointless’ Louie Barry loan move

Aston Villa youngster Louie Barry joined Ipswich Town on loan ahead of the start of the 2021/22 League One season but has so far been used sparingly by manager Paul Cook.

Barry is yet to score for the Tractor Boys this season and has only played 68 minutes in the league after making two appearances.

Ipswich are yet to win a game in any competition this term and Barry has barely featured for Cook’s side.

Barry has been an unused substitute for five of Ipswich’s first seven League One games and has only started one competitive game, in a 1-0 defeat against Newport County in the Carabao Cup.

The 18-year-old became Ipswich’s 11th addition of the summer and is set to spend the duration of the season playing in League One.

Barry has been at Villa for 20 months and, in that time, he’s excelled through Villa’s academy while, in May, helped Villa claim the FA Youth Cup with a win over Liverpool in the final at Villa Park.

The Sutton Coldfield teenager is desperate to prove himself in the senior ranks at Ipswich, but with a slow start to his time at the club, Villa fans have questioned if the move was the right one for the young prodigy.

@ ApgLittle : Pay the fee and get him back. Pointless loan so he might as well play in our u23s with archer moving up to the first team.

@ zoso1969 : If not playing we need to recall him find another championship club where he will play simple.

@ sonlyme : Might as well recall Louie if he isn’t going to get game time. Either train him alongside the first team or find him a loan where he will play.

@ JxamesAVFC : Recall Barry in my opinion.

@ doyoulikeourow1 : Free Louie Barry!

@ themighty21 : Can I ask what was the actual point of sending Louie Barry on loan? He’s played about 60 mins in 6 games for a team 22nd in League 1. Get him back in the U23’s and playing some football.

MysticMcGinn : Have we really sent Louie Barry on loan just for him to not even play?
