Aston Villa fans rave at Morgan Sanson injury update

Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson is set to return to Dean Smith’s squad for Saturday’s game against Chelsea in the Premier League (5.30pm).

Villa travel to Stamford Bridge for a top-flight clash hoping to get back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw with Brentford last time out.

Despite missing Emiliano Buendia and Emiliano Martinez because the pair are quarantining, Smith will be boosted by the return of Leon Bailey from a hamstring injury and John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey from isolation because of coronavirus.

Bertrand Traore has returned to training from a hamstring problem but Carey Chukwuemeka and Jaden Philogene-Bidace have picked up injuries and join Trezeguet (knee) and Keinan Davis on Villa’s injury list.

The return of Sanson is a big boost for the player and Villa, with the January signing from Marseille struggling to kick-start his career at the club.

Sanson made nine appearances for Villa last season, three of which came from the start, but missed the final nine games because of a knee injury.

The 27 year-old returned to action for Villa’s Under-21s in the EFL Trophy at the end of August, playing 45 minutes in a 3-1 win at Wycombe Wanderers.

Now the Frenchman has confirmed that he is available for selection again.

He uploaded a picture of himself in Villa training gear to social media platform Instagram with the caption: ‘Back in the squad’.

A midfielder by trade, Sanson is a player that Smith said he is ‘excited’ by.

And Villa fans feel that way too with the potential for Sanson to become a big player for the club.

“I have high hopes for him,” one fan said on social media while another added: “I watched loads of videos when we signed him and decided he is the future. Here’s hoping.”

“I can’t wait to see him back,” a third fan said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing this fella (hopefully) live up to his early hype,” added another while a fifth supporter said: “I can’t wait for Villa. “Bailey, Traore, and Sanson all fit for Chelsea. Let’s have it.”
