Ashley Young ‘running things’ inside Aston Villa’s dressing room

Ashley Young will be “running things” inside Aston Villa ‘s dressing room, according to Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster.

Versatile defender and midfielder Young rejoined Villa after 10 years away from club in which he joined from Watford in 2007.

After leaving Villa in 2011 for Manchester United, Young won the Premier League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League with the Reds.

His experience and knowhow will be vital for Villa in the cub’s quest to bring European football back to Villa Park in the coming years, after he singed a one-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

Former England goalkeeper Foster thinks Young is a “brilliant, brilliant” signing for Villa and someone who is “worth their weight in gold”.

“They have had a very, very good window,” said Foster on his YouTube channel. “The players they have got in have been very, very good business.

“Ashley Young, experienced, he’s the kind of player that will offer you so much on the pitch because he’s still a player and he is still a baller.

“But, in the dressing room, just keeping the standards high, day in and day out. He will be that guy. He will be running things.

“He will be the chairman. He will be making sure that the ship is running tight, and players like him are worth their weight in gold, honestly a brilliant, brilliant signing.”

After turning 36 in the weeks following his arrival at Villa back in June, Young has started all three of Villa’s opening Premier League games so far this term, against Watford, Newcastle United, and Brentford.
