TikTok user shares ‘satisfying snack’ hack

A mum who shares lifestyle tips has come up with an ingenious way to get toddlers to eat healthy snacks – but not everyone is convinced.

TikTok star and Carolina McCauley, from Perth, Australia, shared the creative hack with her 1.3million followers, which involved her stashing healthy blueberries a layer of other tasty ingredients.

But some viewers were quick to point out that using children’s toys, which can be made from unsafe plastics, may not have been the wisest move.

In the video, Carolina covers the blueberries by dolloping a thick layer of delicious yoghurt over the heart-shaped mould she’s using.

After adding a generous helping of colourful sprinkles, she pops it in the freezer.

Once frozen and solid, Carolina removes the ingenious snack, and snaps it into toddler-sized chunks.

She captioned the video, which has already had over 300,000 views and 11,000 likes, saying: “This was oddly satisfying and totally worth a try.”

Some viewers were concerned about the material being used in the video. Some children’s toys contain plastics that are unsafe if used when making food.

One follower said: “Washing it is not a concern. Materials must meet specific standards to be considered safe to eat off.”

Another said: “You’re going to want to put down a sheet of [cling film] and do redo this.”

A third wrote: “It’s about the chemicals that end up in your food from non-food safe items being used for food.”

However, other users said they were grateful for the suggestion.

“Ohhh this is a great idea,” one said.

In a previous video from the household hacker she showed followers how to ensure last night’s dinner is always wiped from the plate after being run through a dishwasher.

“This dishwasher hack will leave your silverware sparkling’, and the clip racked up 140,000 views.

The simple hack involves scrunching up a sheet of tin foil into a small ball and placing into the cutlery basket with your knives, forks and spoons, and turning it on as normal.

The impressive results show silverware shiny enough for Buckingham Palace and viewers couldn’t believe how easy it was to achieve the same results.

People were desperate to know the science behind the trick, as one guessed that “maybe [the foil] is supposed to fly around scrubbing things?”
