A 14-year-old car crash victim has been has been described as “a lovely girl who was always smiling”.
Hana Mabrouk passed away after being seriously injured in a two-car crash on the M8 near Whitburn, West Lothian, Scotland.
The schoolgirl, from Fife, was rushed to hospital alongside a six-year-old boy, who remains in a critical condition, and two adults.
The Ford Focus car they were in was involved in a smash with a Volkswagen Golf on October 17, the Daily Record reports.
The road was closed for approximately five hours for collision investigations to take place and police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A heartbroken family friend broke the news of Hana’s passing on social media and invited all who knew her to attend her funeral on Wednesday.
She wrote: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I write this message on behalf of Rasha El Talli and Micheal.
“They would like everyone to know that their precious daughter Hana sadly passed away.
“Due to the Muslim religion Hana will be laid to rest quickly. The finer details have to be confirmed but the funeral will take place on Wednesday 27th October.”
She added: “Due to the circumstances there will be no gathering after the funeral.
“Also, I would like to add that a family friend will be taking photographs of the funeral so please don’t be alarmed.
“This is to allow Rasha and Michael to reflect back on the day and to be able to send family in Egypt who will not be able to make the funeral.
“Please feel free to share this post as it’s for Hana and we know everyone will want to show their respect.
“Thank you to everyone for your kind messages, love and support. It’s really appreciated and just shows how special Hana is to so many people.”
Dozens of heartfelt messages poured in for the grieving family, who live in Methil, Fife, with many commenting on Hana’s smile.
One wrote: “Thoughts are with you all, Hana was a very bubbly young lady and always had a smile on her face.”
Another said: “Hana was a lovely girl who always had a smile on her face. Thinking of the family at this very sad time.”
A third posted: “Just no words…Hana you will always be in my thoughts. Sleep Tight Princess.”
Police Scotland confirmed the 14-year-old had tragically lost her life in hospital and continued to appeal for witnesses of the crash to come forward.
Sergeant Jennifer Forbes said: “Our thoughts are with the girl’s family at this incredibly distressing time.
“We continue to support them as we investigate how this crash happened.
“I’d ask any witnesses to the crash who are yet to come forward to do so at their earliest opportunity.”
