Strictly: Katie McGlynn and Gorka eliminated in week 3

Strictly Come Dancing 2021 contestant Katie McGlynn heaped praise on her professional dance partner Gorka Marquez, and called him an “amazing friend” during Sunday’s results show.

The dance pairing were unfortunately sent home, after losing the dance-off against Loose Women’s Judi Love and her partner Graziano Di Prima.

Judge Anton Du Beke had actually voted to save Katie and Gorka, while Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood all saved Judi and Graziano.

As the result came in, Katie and Gorka were gutted to be leaving so soon, just three weeks into the series.

But as she revealed how she’d loved every moment, she praised Gorka and said she had made a good friend out of the series, even if she hadn’t won the Glitterball Trophy.

She appeared to cool rumours of a feud between her and Gorka, after recent speculation they “don’t get along” – something Gorka also hit back over just days ago.

Instead, she praised the pro dancer and said she’d had a great experience doing the series.

She told host Tess Daly: “I have absolutely loved my time, I am so happy I got to be Cruella, and dance with this amazing guy, I have loved every second of it.

“Thank you for being an amazing partner, we have laughed so much, and I get to walk away with an amazing friend.

“Thanks so much for teaching me in your funny ways, we have had so much fun.”

Gorka then praised Katie back, revealing the love she has for the show made their partnership and time on the series “enjoyable and easy”.

He explained: “I have loved it, the love that she has for the show.

“I think talking for myself, and all the pros, when we come to the show, it isn’t just about someone who can dance, it is someone who wants to learn, who wants to improve, and makes us love what we do, and makes our job enjoyable and easy.

“That’s what I had with Katie and I will never forget this experience, it’s been incredible.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns next weekend, with the main show on Saturday evening followed by the results show on Sunday evening.
