Rapper AJ Tracey’s gig organisers fined £10,000 for mass Covid-19 breach

Organisers of a music event for rapper AJ Tracey have reportedly been slapped with a £10,000 fine for breaching Covid-19 rules.

The 27-year-old London-based rapper had announced to followers that he would be performing at Platt Fields Park in Manchester on Sunday and as a result, hundreds of people flocked to the event.

The Brit Award-nominated star was promptly forced to cancel the gig before he started performing because so many people had turned up.

Greater Manchester Police have since revealed to Manchester Evening News that the organisers of the music event were given a Fixed Penalty Notice of £10,000.

“People have now dispersed and the organiser of this gathering has been issued with a £10,000 Fixed Penalty Notice,” the statement read.

“GMP would like remind the public of the importance of adhering to the lockdown regulations in order to keep our community safe and protected.”

Over the weekend, footage of groups of largely maskless people congregating at the park to see the rapper began circulating the internet.

On Sunday afternoon, police were called to reports of large gatherings taking place at the park just south of Manchester City Centre.

AJ Tracey’s team swiftly pulled the plug on the event, with the rapper then taking to social media to apologise to fans and cancel a further event.

“Thank you for coming out… It’s not going to be safe for me to travel to Bristol. I didn’t expect that many people to turn up in Manny and genuinely, it’s just not ok for me to go ahead,” AJ Tracey told his Twitter followers.
