He may be but a boy, but rising film star Alan Kim proved he had style that many fully grown men would envy when arriving at the 2021 Oscars.
The nine-year-old actor features in comedy-drama Minari – bagging a ticket to the 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday evening in Los Angeles as the film is nominated for an array of awards, including Best Picture.
Arriving at the Union Station in Los Angeles on Sunday, child star Alan delighted viewers as he strolled onto the red carpet in a sharp shorts-suit.
The outfit was designed by respected American fashion designer Thom Browne – while the young actor struck poses and danced on the red carpet in style.
With a bow tie and stylish knee-high socks, Alan was something of a red carpet darling as many took to social media to delight in his sartorial style.
One Oscars fan remarked via Twitter : “the shorts and socks combo Alan kim must be protected at all costs.”
While another tweeted: “Alan Kim doing his best James Bond pose.”
Minari was nominated for six awards on Sunday night – with film creator Lee Isaac Chung up for both Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
The film was also nominated for Best Picture, while stars Youn Yuh-jung and Steven Yeun were nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor respectively.
While musician Emile Mosseri was up for Best Original Score.
Alan spoke to Teen Vogue ahead of his arrival on the red carpet where he discussed working with chickens in the film.
He said: “I took a chick and named it Chickie.
“I would let him down and pick up another random chick and be like, ‘Hi, Chickie.’
“I got messed up so much that I didn’t know which one was Chickie after he hopped away.”
Despite his young years, Alan is already a purple belt in taekwondo – but he is not sure if he wants to show off his fighting skills in a film.
He told Teen Vogue: “I’m not sure. I really just want to do any movie, except horror or romance.”
