Missing Gabby Petito’s boyfriend ‘seen slapping her’ before YouTuber vanished

Remains matching Gabby Petito’s description have been found at the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, the FBI confirmed

Gabby Petito had been travelling in a van across the US with her partner

A witness has claimed they saw Gabby Petito’s boyfriend ‘slapping her’ weeks before her disappearance.

In a call to police the unnamed witness says they watched Brian Laundrie chasing the woman up and down a pavement.

Moab Police Department in Utah responded to the incident which happened on August 12, before finding the van and pulling the couple over.

It comes after the FBI revealed in a press conference that remains matching Gabby’s description had been found at the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

Authorities said the remains were ‘consistent’ with the missing woman but that a full forensic identification was yet to be completed.

No cause of death has been determined.

Now, in a newly released transcript from the a 911 call published by ABC News the caller claims to have seen Laundrie slap his partner in the weeks before.

The caller says they are reporting a ‘domestic dispute’ and describes seeing ‘a gentleman … slapping the girl.’

They added: “They ran up and down the sidewalk. He proceeded to hit her hops in the car. And they drove off.”

Meanwhile, police and FBI agents investigating the disappearance searched the Florida home of her fiance’s parents for computer files on Monday.

Local TV stations showed images of the yellow suburban house surrounded by police vehicles and marked off with crime scene tape.

Officers could also be seen loading cardboard boxes into the back of a police van as they continued to investigate.

Police have called Laundrie, who returned to Florida from the road trip on September 1 without his partner, a “person of interest” in the case.

Laundrie’s family told police on Friday that they had not seen him since the 23-year-old man left three days earlier, telling them he planned to hike in the nearly 25,000-acre Carlton Reserve, a wilderness area near North Port.

North Port police said on Monday that their efforts to find Laundrie had shifted away from the reserve.

“We currently believe we have exhausted all avenues in searching of the grounds there,” North Port police said on Monday.

“Law enforcement agencies continue to search for Brian Laundrie.”

In court documents seeking the search warrant, North Port police said they believed a felony had been committed and were looking to seize computer storage devices and hard drives from the home.

Evidence they cited included an August 27 text purportedly sent by Petito to her mother, Nicole Schmidt, which describes getting repeated calls and voice messages from “Stan,” Petito’s grandfather.

Schmidt found the messages suspicious because the young woman would not usually refer to her grandfather by his first name.
