Harry and Meghan have broadcast a total of 35 minutes for their £18 million Spotify podcast deal, it has been reported.
The couple previously claimed they had signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify after being financially cut off from the royals which left them with hefty security bills.
Harry said deals with the streaming giants were “never part of the plan”, but said they needed cash to pay for security.
The couple’s deal with streaming service Spotify was one of their first huge business ventures after quitting the Royal Family.
Their show, Archewell Audio, shared its first episode at the end of last year, featuring interviews with Sir Elton John and James Cordon as well as a short clip of their son Archie wishing listeners a happy new year.
The pair are currently on parental leave after the birth of their daughter.
The Sun reports that royal author Phil Dampier said: “We’re being told they’re having up to five months off and people who are paying them a lot of money will expect something in return.
“They seem to be using up a lot of ammunition very early and putting a lot of stuff out there in terms of deals and agreements with lots of firms.
“The question might be asked whether they have too much on their plate.”
Previously Horacio Gutierrez, Spotify’s head of global affairs and chief legal officer, was grilled about the amount of money the company gave the couple at a Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee hearing.
He didn’t confirm the £18million figure previously reported but said “they’re not doing it for free”.
He said that they hoped Meghan and Harry’s podcast would attract more people to the service, which would therefore lead to more listens for other shows.
He said: “Those high production shows that tend to be the tentpole that attract people into the service, and therefore benefit everyone.
“There is clear evidence that having podcast offerings on the service benefits music consumption, so on the whole there’s a virtuous cycle that occurs.”
PR agent Mark Borowski was reported to have said Harry and Meghan may have pre-recorded shows ready for broadcast between now and 2022.
Meghan Markle recently released her children’s book ‘The Bench’, which was inspired by a poem the Duchess of Sussex wrote about Prince Harry’s first Father’s Day.
The 40-page £12.99 ($18.42) book is illustrated with pictures of a family including one of Meghan cradling a newborn baby in a possible nod to their newborn daughter Lili.
