Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has been advised to be ‘more humble’ after his role in a bad-tempered Ligue 1 clash.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side left it late to continue their 100 percent winning record in the division this season thanks to a last-minute winner from Achraf Hakimi at Metz.

The winner came with the last kick of the game and served to heighten tensions between the two sets of players after a contentious match.

The winner from Hakimi – who had also opened the scoring for PSG – led to wild scenes of celebrations from the visiting players with Metz goalkeeper Alexandre Oukidja infuriated by their actions.

Kylian Mbappe was criticised by Metz boss Frederic Antonetti over his behaviour

Metz captain Dylan Bronn had received a second yellow card for kicking the ball away in an attempt to waste time in the closing stages of the encounter.

That led to the home side’s boss Frederic Antonetti also being dismissed for his protestations as the home side desperately tried to hang on for a draw.

Ten minutes earlier, Metz players had reacted angrily after Mbappe nearly scored from his kick back to goalkeeper Oukidja following the ball being put out of play for an injury.

Mbappe attempted to lob the goalkeeper from distance with his effort, requiring a superb stop from a back-peddling Oukidja who had to claw the ball away in dramatic circumstances.

Understandably, this only served to further tensions between the two sets of players with Metz infuriated that Mbappe had seemingly attempted to score from the sportsmanlike gesture.

That prompted Antonetti to vent his frustrations towards the France international striker after the match, claiming that he had to change his behaviour if he wanted to be more loved.

The boss said: “Kylian Mbappe had better behave differently if he wants to be loved.

“I adore this player, he is very, very strong, but he would benefit from showing more humble behaviour.

“In the game he had been non-existent. It happens when he cannot find space.”

While Antonetti appeared to claim that his side had successfully managed to shackle the superstar striker throughout the game, this is not shown in the data from the match.

No other player on the pitch managed more shots on goal than Mbappe (three) during the game while his four chances created for others was more than any other player in the encounter.

Mbappe did lose possession of the ball a total of 18 times during the match but he did manage to win three free-kicks during the game – more than any other player.

Yet Metz did come close to earning a hard-fought point in the encounter and did prevent Mbappe -who scored a double when the two sides met earlier this year – from either scoring or providing an assist against them for the first time in his career.
