The future of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has come under scrutiny in recent weeks and he was whistled by some supporters in Saturday’s Ligue 1 match
Paris Saint-Germain players gathered to celebrate the birthday of Ander Herrera over the weekend but there was one notable absentee.
The former Manchester United player celebrated his 32 nd birthday on Saturday and the Parisians continued their winning start to the league season with a 4-2 win over Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
There were 15 players who were pictured in attendance at Herrera’s birthday celebrations, including the club’s new star signing Lionel Messi.
There was however one notable absentee as Kylian Mbappe was not pictured with his teammates and did not appear to be at the celebrations hosted by the midfielder.
Mbappe’s absence is notable as it comes amid renewed speculation over his future in the French capital with Real Madrid continually linked with a move for the striker.

Herrera’s caption of the picture read: “Thank you great team #birthday.”
Mbappe is out of contract at the Parc des Princes next summer and there has been a standstill in the negotiation process between the player and the club.
That led to the striker being whistled and jeered by a section of the PSG fans during their game against Strasbourg on Saturday.
Mbappe scored the Parisian side’s second goal in a 4-2 victory but it was made clear that a number of the club’s fans are less than happy with the striker’s situation.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino had said of the booing, in quotes carried by L’Equipe : “I did not hear the whistles.
“I am very happy with him. He’s focused on what he needs to do and had a really good game. He must continue on this path.
“It is very important for us to have our supporters around us. It’s extraordinary and we missed him dearly. Football is completely different with the spectators.
“With the presentation of the newcomers, it was a great evening for PSG. Now, we have to prepare them gradually, without taking too many risks, whether it is Leo Messi or the others.”
Mbappe’s absence from the party celebrations of his teammate are likely to add more fuel to the fire that he could be leaving the club.
The club’s signings of Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum and Achraf Hakimi this summer mean that they are likely to need to ease their wage bill.
Real Madrid, for their part, have seen Ramos and Raphael Varane among their departures this year with it rumoured that the club have cleared their wage bill for a move for the 22-year-old.
