Katie Price and Peter Andre’s doomed wedding with pumpkin carriages and Botox

Katie Price and Peter Andre’s lavish wedding saw her float down the aisle in an enormous pink princess-style gown after arriving in a Cinderella-style carriage

Katie Price and Peter Andre had a seriously lavish wedding

Katie Price and Peter Andre were once the most talked about celebrity couple, and they got married in one of the most over the top weddings in showbiz history.

The duo, who got married in 2005, would have celebrated their anniversary on September 10, but they went on to divorce in 2009. Ahead of their now moot anniversary we take a look at the biggest wedding in 2005 showbiz land.

And before it all came crashing down, Katie and Peter tied the knot at the posh Highclere Castle, which is where Downton Abbey is filmed.

For her big day, Katie donned a princess-style pink tulle and satin dress designed by Isabell Kristensen.

The dress boasted an epic seven-metre train and she wore a giant pink sparkly crown in her beehived hair.

Peter donned an all-white tux adorned with Swarovski crystals, and the couple sported matching fake tans.

Katie later claimed that Peter even had hair extensions fitted for the wedding.

Before the big day, they’d both had a spot of Botox to beautify themselves for the special occasion.

In true Pricey style, Katie arrived at her wedding venue in a Cinderella-inspired carriage pulled by six white horses.

Katie’s bridesmaids were the late Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding, Liberty X’s Michelle Heaton and her I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here friend, Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona.

The bridesmaids wore strapless, white mid-length dresses and glittery headbands and carried pink bouqets.

The star-studded guest list also included Charlotte Church, Jennifer Ellison, Wayne and Coleen Rooney and Paul Gascoigne.

Katie was delayed getting to the wedding, and guests were also stuck in traffic waiting for police and firefighters to sort out a huge tanker that sprung a leak nearby.

This meant the wedding didn’t start until over 90 minutes after it was meant to kick off.

Just when the ceremony got under way, another interruption brought everything to a halt when the Portaloos arrived at the venue.

Guests cheered as there previously hadn’t been any toilet facilities for them.

Members of Liberty X – Michelle, Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young – then turned up late and disrupted the day further.

Katie and Peter married in a civil ceremony in the mansion’s library, before having their marriage blessed in the Secret Garden area.

After Katie and Peter finally said “I do” they treated their guests to foie gras and lobster served by opera-singing waiters.

The reception was held in a marquee decorated with bay trees, pink feathers, crystals, a 10-foot chandelier and two flower-covered thrones.

The newlyweds had their first dance to their own version of A Whole New World from Disney’s Aladdin and cut into a towering wedding cake.

Katie and Peter signed a whopping £1.75million exclusive deal with a glossy mag to cover the wedding.

This meant much of it was shrouded in secrecy at the time, and the couple reportedly hired a team of ex-SAS soldiers and intelligence officers to ensure the exclusive deal wasn’t compromised.

Katie later said that the lavish day wasn’t what she dreamed it would be.

She had been suffering from post-natal depression following the birth of their son Junior just three months earlier.

The mum-of-five also admitted that she had regrets about the magazine deal.

Katie told Loose Women in 2017: “When I look back at it, I didn’t enjoy the day.

“One, I had postnatal depression and also because we did it for a magazine I wasn’t allowed to be in certain places in case someone got a picture.

“It was that extravagant – I remember people just chucking Swarovski crystals onto the tables.

“We had a carriage, we had a tunnel, special lighting, pink carpet… I mean, what didn’t we have?

“[But] I didn’t see it! Because of doing the photos I didn’t even see all of the wedding.

“I enjoyed marrying him, but I didn’t get to enjoy the wedding.”

Almost four years to the day of their wedding, the couple, who share Junior, 16, and Princess, 14, got divorced.

It famously took just over a minute for a High Court judge to end Katie and Peter’s marriage on September 8, 2009.

She has since gone on to marry and divorce two more times: she was married to Alex Reid from 2010 to 2012 and Kieran Hayler from 2013 until 2018. She is currently engaged to Carl Woods.

Peter has been married to NHS doctor Emily MacDonagh since 2015.
