Kate Ferdinand shares that husband Rio’s children tease her over TOWIE past

Kate Ferdinand rarely speaks about her reality TV roots.

But the new mum – who welcomed son Cree with husband Rio Ferdinand, 42, in December – has revealed that her stepchildren poke fun at her former career as a reality star on ITV’s TOWIE.

The 29-year-old is doting step mum to Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and nine-year-old Tia and has shared that if a clip emerges on TV from her days on the Essex based reality show that the kids “start laughing” and tease her.

Kate told The Sun: “Every now and then a clip will come up of me on the TV and the kids will start laughing and be like, ‘Oh my God, that is not you!’”

The beauty – who left TOWIE in 2017 to dedicate herself to family life with former footballer Rio and his brood – then shared how she never expected her life to change so much since her time on screen.

“I never saw myself here, of course. Life throws you in crazy directions and I do believe I am here for a reason,” she told.

Kate added: “I am so grateful I met Rio and the children and that our lives are as they are now. But it is crazy to look back and see where I was and where I am now.”

Kate’s husband Rio shares his three eldest kids Lorenz, Tate, and Tia with his late wife Rebecca Ellison who sadly died from cancer in 2015.

It was two years after Rebecca’s tragic death that Rio and Kate then began a relationship and the pair have always been open about their family’s journey throughout the last few years, and they even featured in a BBC documentary last year called Rio and Kate: Becoming A Stepfamily.

Rio’s eldest three have been very supportive of their step-mum and Kate recently hit out online following hurtful claims that she might love her baby son Cree more than her three step-children.

She branded the suggestion ‘offensive’ in a candid Q&A session with her fans.

Taking to social media in February, she explained to her 1.4 million followers that she had actually been quizzed ‘a lot’ on this topic in the past.

In her heartwarming response, Kate maintained that she loved all four children equally and that would never change.

Kate’s reply came after a follower asked: “Do you love your own child a lot more than step-children? I fear this will happen to me.”

Alongside a picture that featured Lorenz, Tate, and Tia cuddling their baby brother Cree, Kate opened up about how she felt.

She wrote: “People ask me this a lot, and I can only speak for myself as everyone is different…

“I love all four children equally and I will never see any difference between my biological and non biological children.”

Kate added: “Lorenz, Tate & Tia taught me what it feels like to love a child way before I had Cree.

The proud mum also explained that the family had ‘worked hard’ in order to get to where they were today.

She continued: “We worked so hard as a family to get to where we are now, and I take huge offence if anyone even suggests I would love Cree more than them.

“We have been through A LOT as a family, and that I believe has cemented my love for them so deep that the fact we are not blood is not important.”
