The Duchess of Cambridge’s younger brother James finally tied the knot with his fiancée Alizée Thevenet at the weekend.
James, 34, took to Instagram yesterday to reveal that he had married “love of his life” Alizée in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends – thought to include his sister, Prince William and his nephews and niece Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
He told his 219,000 followers: “Yesterday I married the love of my life surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs in the beautiful village of Bormes-les-Mimosas. Words cannot describe how happy I am.”
The couple began dating after a chance meeting in 2018 and have twice had to postpone their wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Here’s everything we know so far about their romance and stunning wedding…

He later told the Telegraph that he credits his dog Ella for sparking his chance encounter with his new wife.
He said that he allowed Ella, who had been sitting at his feet, to go and get a drink of water from a bowl across the room. However, she made a beeline for Alizée, leaving James embarrassed.
He explained: “I went over to apologise and bring Ella back. But Alizée thought I was the waiter and ordered her drink while continuing to stroke Ella, who at this point was on her back lapping up the attention.
“Little did I know, but I had just met my future wife, all thanks to Ella. If I hadn’t trusted Ella, I wouldn’t have brought her to the South Kensington Club and she wouldn’t have been able to say hi to the woman who became my fiancée.”
The couple dated for more than a year with Alizée spotted on a family holidays with the Middletons soon after.
They announced their engagement in September 2019, after James reportedly popped the question on a trip to the Lake District.
They revealed their engagement on Instagram in a loved-up post with Alizée showing off her beautiful sapphire ring. The image was captioned: “She said OUI,” followed by a heart emoji.
It added: “Our secret is out but we couldn’t be happier to share the news”, followed by a hashtagged fusion of their two first names – “Jalizee”.
According to the Daily Mail, the pair snapped up a property earlier this year, where they live close to James’s parents Carole and Michael in the village of Buckleberry, Berkshire.
He said in a post on Instagram: ‘Think buying a house is up there with one of the most stressful experiences in my life.
‘It’s been a hectic few months moving in to our new home & we couldn’t be happier. We are settling into our life in the country and the dogs their new home.’
Last year, James revealed the couple had twice had to postpone their nuptials due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the post, he shared a gorgeous image of himself and Alizée on holiday on the Italian island of Sicily, while sailing a boat.
He wrote: “It’s a year since I asked Alizée to marry me and what a year it has been!
“Two homes, lockdown, two attempts at a wedding, a litter of [dog emoji], launching of new company @ella.co, a beard shave and much more but the best part is that I get to share it with you @alizeethevenet and I can’t wait to take on whatever the future holds for us.”
In an Instagram post announcing that they had finally got married, James revealed the ceremony took place “surrounded by family, friends and of course a few dogs”.
Royal expert Roya Nikkhah told ITV’s Lorraine programme that James’ proud sister Kate jetted to France with Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to celebrate with her family as her brother said “I do”.
Also believed to be there was Pippa, James’s other sister, and her husband James Matthews.
His parents Michael and Carole Middleton, were reportedly there, as were the couple’s dogs Luna and Mabel.
Although the actual venue has not been revealed, James confirmed on Instagram that the wedding took place “in the beautiful village of Bormes-les-Mimosas.”
The village is in the beautiful Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in the south of France.
James’s bride Alizée was born in France but according to Tatler, grew up “all over the world” in countries such as Germany, Indonesia and Chile.
She reportedly speaks French, English and Spanish and moved to England around seven years ago.
