Beat The Chasers fans were angry that a former contestant got to come back and have another go.
Claire, a self-employed secretary, played on Tuesday evening’s show and revealed that she’d actually been on The Chase before and played The Vixen, aka Jenny Ryan.
Viewers said it was unfair, saying Claire had “had her turn” and shouldn’t have been allowed to come back again.
The contestant explained that she had won £5,000 in her cashbuilder on The Chase, won her round against Jenny, but her team failed to get through the final chase round.
She said: “I won my individual round, despite the fact that after a £5,000 cashbuilder she said I’d come to the limits of my capabilities.
“But I’ve come back because I forgive you Jenny, I’ll give it another go.”
Jenny told her: “Well you didn’t take any money home so I think my analysis was correct then!”
“You know, I thought she’d softened a bit,” Claire said.
And fans thought she shouldn’t have had another chance, with one tweeting: “How do these people get on who’ve been on before?”
“Why is this chase contestants getting another shot? They’ve had their turn,” another posted.
A third wrote: “What is it with allowing people who’ve been on The Chase on Beat The Chasers too? I can’t get on either.
“Another ex chase contestant klaxon,” another said.
Claire managed to perform well in the first round and won £2,000.
She took the middle offer to play for £10,000 in 42 seconds in the Chaser round against Jenny, The Dark Destroyer Shaun Wallace and The Beast Mark Labbett.
Claire managed to beat them with nine seconds left and Shaun said it was “redemption” against Jenny as he gave Claire thumbs up.
“Yes! She knows I love her really,” Claire said.
