Stan Kroenke’s defiant Arsenal stance continues despite Daniel Ek declaration

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has insisted they will not listen to any offers for the club.

It comes after Spotify tycoon Daniel Ek claimed he had made an approach to buy the club but it had been rejected.

Ek said he had made contact with Josh Kroenke and Kroenke Sports Entertainment’s bankers and said his offer would include fan representation.

Swedish billionaire Ek said: “They replied that they don’t need the money. I remain interested should that situation ever change.”

The Kroenke family have made it clear they are not selling, have issued an official statement to the Stock Exchange and are committed for the long term.

The club issued an apology after the European Super League and Josh Kroenke also attended an online fans’ forum in which he promised better fan engagement in the future.

Ek’s bid includes support from Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp but his very public pursuit via social media is a very unusual way of doing business and has made no inroads at Arsenal.

His full statement on his Twitter read: “Inaccurate reports emerged today saying I have not made a bid for Arsenal Football Club.

“I think it’s important to correct the record – this week an offer was made to both Josh Kroenke and their bankers that included fan ownership, representation at the board and a golden share for the supporters.

“They replied that they don’t need the money. I respect their decision but remain interested and available should that situation ever change.”

Arsenal fans have protested against the club’s ownership but they do not seem phased.
