Though it has been an improved season for the Red Devils under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, there remain several areas that will need to be boosted by new signings.
With Edinson Cavani close to leaving Old Trafford after just one season, a striker will be United’s top priority.
A new winger is also needed, with Anthony Martial failing to impress, while the defence has also looked vulnerable with Harry Maguire lacking a top-quality partner.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Manchester United transfer news…
Chong decision close
Tahith Chong is reportedly ready to make a decision on his Manchester United future as he enters the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.
Chong is currently on loan at Belgian side Club Brugge, with the winger scoring four goals in seven Jupiler Pro League games.
And the Sun now report that though Chong will evaluate his options before making any decision on his future, it is likely he will return to Club Brugge permanently.
Varane talks ‘very advanced’
Manchester United are long-term admirers of Raphael Varane, with the Real Madrid defender one of their top targets for the summer.
Varane is entering the final year of his contract at Madrid, with Los Blancos accepting that they will have to sell the Frenchman this summer if they are to make any money on him.
United now appear to be in pole position to sign the World Cup winner, with El Chiringuito TV claiming the Red Devils are in very advanced talks to sign the defender this summer.
United handed Kane boost
With Edinson Cavani edging closer to a departure after just one season at Old Trafford, United are now beginning to eye replacements.
One of United’s possible options is Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who is reported to be ready to quit Spurs if they miss out on the top four.
And the Red Devils have been handed a boost in their hopes of signing the England captain, with Football Insider reporting Kane is “interested” in moving to United.
