The draw for the 2021-22 Champions League group stage has been confirmed.

Four Premier League clubs have learned their opponents for the 67th iteration of Europe’s premier competition.

The Red Devils lost to the Spanish side in May’s Europa League final via a marathon penalty shoot-out.

For 2019 winners Liverpool, they are set to play Atletico Madrid, Porto and AC Milan in Group B.

The group stage will take place across six midweek matchdays between Tuesday, September 14 and Wednesday, December 8.

2022’s final will be played at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, Russia on Saturday, May 28.

It was originally scheduled to be played at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, Germany but after the 2020 iteration of the competition, the scheduled host venues were pushed back one year.

Like every year, the winners of the Champions League will automatically qualify for next season’s group stage and face the Europa League champions in the UEFA Super Cup at the beginning of next term.

The team who hoist the Champions League trophy in the air next May will also enter the FIFA World Club Cup and compete against the kings of Asia, South America and Africa.

This season is the first since 1998–99 – the final year of the Cup Winners’ Cup – in which three major European club competitions will run thanks to the new Europa League Conference League.

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was crowned goalkeeper of last campaign’s tournament and his manager, Thomas Tuchel, claimed coach of the year.

Manchester City’s Ruben Dias and Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante picked up the respective defender and midfielder accolade.

But it was Jorginho who was voted as the best player overall of the most recent tournament and Erling Haaland picked up the forward’s award.
