Borussia Dortmund have slapped a £101million asking price on Jude Bellingham in the hope of fending off Liverpool ’s advances.

The German side are keen to deter Jurgen Klopp’s Reds from looking to pinch one of their prized assets and are hopeful the mammoth price tag will end any interest.

Bellingham has reportedly emerged as Liverpool’s number one transfer target after establishing himself as one of Europe’s hottest talents.

The 18-year-old has started every one of Dortmund’s Bundesliga and Champions League matches so far this campaign and the German side see him as an integral member of the team.

With confidence soaring, Bellingham has already registered two goals and two assists in the Bundesliga this season, including a stunning solo strike against Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday.

Jude Bellingham has been given a hefty price tag by Borussia Dortmund

The midfield maestro, who was signed from Birmingham City for a £25m fee in 2020, has racked up over 60 appearances for Dortmund and his stellar form has led to eight England caps.

According to German publication Bild, Dortmund have no intention of selling their rising star and will not let him depart the club for anything less than €120m (£101m).

The hefty price tag certainly looks to have dashed any Liverpool hopes of swooping the sensation as they would have to smash their transfer record to sign Bellingham, who is tied down with Dortmund until 2025.

The Reds stumped up £75m for Virgil Van Dijk back in January of 2018, but if Dortmund’s demands are to be met, Liverpool would have to make the young England midfielder the most expensive player in the club’s history.

This isn’t the first time Dortmund have shown a stubborn resolve when it comes to transfer dealings – look no further than Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United finally got their man this summer for a reportedly ‘cut-price’ £73m, one year after they originally tried to sign him, as Dortmund refused to budge on price.

With a whole host of top clubs sniffing around for Erling Haaland, Dortmund face a number of transfer stand-offs as they reap the rewards of their impressive business model.

The Black and Yellows are renowned for snapping up youthful talent before moulding them into superstars warranting monster transfer fees.

Ousmane Dembele, Christian Pulisic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ilkay Gundogan are just a few high-profile names who honed their talents at Dortmund before moving on for mega money.

Although Bellingham is tipped to be one of the next big names to depart the club, it seems clear Dortmund aren’t willing to let their midfield star leave any time soon.

In fact, he may well be joined by another Bellingham in Germany as younger brother Jobe is reportedly attracting interest from Dortmund and could well become the latest in their long line of tapped-up talents.

According to Bild, Dortmund are keen to snap up Jude’s 16-year-old sibling, who is yet to make his Birmingham City first team bow, in a move that could boost Dortmund’s chances of keeping Jude Bellingham at the club.
