Bradley Walsh blown away by ‘best ever game’ as The Sinnerman catches huge score

The Chase is a nail-biting quiz show at the best of times.

Today’s episode (May 4) was no different as some exceptional quizzers faced the Chaser but were eventually caught in the final round.

The quartet of Tracy, Andy, George and Ellie had racked up a substantial £59,000 after impressive cashbuilder and head to head rounds where every one of them returned home.

Paul Sinha (The Sinnerman) was the one sweating in the hot seat as the fearless contestants kept racking up the money.

George, from Texas, was a particular brainiac as a quizzer on rival quiz show University Challenge and revealed that his parents worked for NASA.

He went big with £40,000 in the head to head and answered questions correctly on Twinkies, architecture and coincidentally space.

The Sinnerman was at the helm

The other contestants made dents to the prize pool too and in the final round scored a massive 23 points.

“What a team,” Bradley announced as Paul made his way to the podium.

But here is where the Chaser displayed why he is feared by many and considered one of the best in the business.

There were chances to push back but the team couldn’t execute them as they answered questions on Ionia and George Michael incorrectly.

With 12 seconds to go and a sort of inevitable surrender in the team’s eyes, The Sinnerman answered the final question to catch them and the Chase was over.

Fans were awash on social media saying it was one of the best episodes ever.

One said: “Absolute brilliance, both from the team and Paul.”

Another said: “The Sinnerman is different gravy.”

A third commented: “That was a psychotic final chase.”

Some were coming in with the typical comments like “the Chaser’s questions were much easier” and others were labelling it a “fix”.

There was no doubt Paul was insanely good in the final, however.

Tracy, Andy, George and Ellie were dubbed ‘a great team’ by Bradley Walsh and by Paul as ‘without a doubt one of the best teams I’ve played.’

Bradley also said that he ‘thoroughly enjoyed this match. It’s been brilliant. It’s been the best game I’ve taken part in.”

*The Chase continues on weekdays at 5pm on ITV and is available on catch-up on ITV Hub.
