It’s a sports day these children will never forget – being put through their paces watched by a now world famous former pupil.

Teenage tennis sensation Emma Raducanu, 18, had just pulled out of Wimbledon with breathing problems in July.

But despite the setback she showed up at her old school days later to dish out medals, show off her court skills and wow children and teachers with her charm and beaming smile.

No doubt staff and pupils of Bickley Primary in Bromley, South East London, will be watching with millions tonight as she plays in the US Open Final.

Among them would be Suzanne Williams, a coach at Parklangley tennis club in Beckenham, where Emma began practising at six.

She says she is not the least bit surprised by her powerful winners on court. “When Emma was eight I once said for fun, ‘How many press-ups can you do in a minute?’

“She smashed out 48. Unbelievable. Try it – 12 is a good score.”

Emma’s fairytale in New York has put her on course to be the richest British tennis star ever.

The Brit teenager is in tennis super agent Max Eisenbud’s stable, along with the likes of Russian superstar Maria Sharapova.

He aims to build an off-court business empire for 18-year-old Emma, including her own clothing brand and a perfume line.

And it will stretch across the world to China, because of her being half-Chinese and fluent in Mandarin.

A source said: “Max knows Emma’s earnings off court could dwarf those of anyone who has come before her in British tennis, including Andy Murray.

“She’s the full package when it comes to what sponsors want – articulate, good looking and very clean-cut. Her mixed ethnicity only adds to all that. She’s a marketing dream.”

Eisenbud, 49, has masterminded deals for a number of female stars, including Sharapova, 34, who made up to £20million a year before her retirement last year.

Chinese hero Li Na, the only Asian player to have won a grand slam tournament – the Australian Open in 2014 – is also on Eisenbud’s books.

Emma’s US Open Final against Canadian Leylah Fernandez, 19, was watched by millions of Brits last night after Channel 4 secured a late deal to show it live.

She is now favourite to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli said yesterday: “I think we are witnessing the birth of a true superstar.”
