Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty has admitted he finds training for the sport ‘boring’ but that a dance rehearsal can be the ‘most amazing 10 hours he’s ever spent’
Strictly Come Dancing’s Adam Peaty has admitted he finds swimming training “tedious” and that he’d prefer a dance rehearsal any day.
The Olympic swimmer came a very respectable second in last night’s show with his partner Katya Jones and says if he “gets the right song” a dance rehearsal can be the “most amazing 10 hours”.
“I’ve learnt so much about my body and my mental state from dancing. It’s so energetic and positive.”
The three-time Olympic champion and Katya had a bit of a wobble last week when their rumba sent them to the bottom of the leaderboard.
However last night they were awarded 32 points for a rather steamy Argentine tango in which they appeared to kiss.
Of course the moment sent viewers into a frenzy with many of them taking to Twitter to discuss whether the Strictly curse had struck again.
One fan asked:“Did Adam just go to kiss Katya and then remember they’re on TV?!”
However Adam is currently in a relationship with girlfriend Eiri Munro, with whom he shares a one-year-old son. While Katya is understood to be single after spitting with her husband Neil Jones in 2019.
The 26 year old took to Twitter to refute any rumours posting: “Thank you to everyone who has sent supporting messages! I loved it.”
“To everyone who wants to see what they want, your comments have real life consequences. I will not be overcome or lowered by your gossip.
“Protect your energy.”
As a swimmer Adam told Hello! that he’s not used to performing with a partner and said his time with Katya had already been “an eye-opening experience.”
Katya revealed she had told Adam that their dances were more than just the steps, reminding him that he needed to “have a connection.”
The Russian-born dancer has competed on the show for six years and last year was partnered with Olympic gold medallist boxer Nicola Adams in Strictly’s first female same-sex couple.
In 2018 Katya found herself in the eye of a media storm when she was photographed kissing her 2018 dance partner Seann Walsh.
The pair, who were both in relationships at the time, were forced to apologise for their misdemeanor on Strictly” It Takes Two referring to the snog as a ‘drunken one off mistake’.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6.45pm
