Strictly Come Dancing 2021: First look at new pro dancers epic opening routine

Kai Widdrington, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard and Jowita Przystal are this year’s newcomers on the hit BBC One show

The Strictly newcomers have already recorded their first group dance

Strictly Come Dancing’s new professional dancers have recorded their debut opening routine for the upcoming new series of the hit BBC One show.

Newcomers Kai Widdrington, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard and Jowita Przystal looked at home alongside their fellow pro dancers in new stills from the performance, which will hit TV screens in September.

Dressed all in black during rehearsals for the sultry number, the foursome looked relaxed amongst beloved professionals such as Oti Mabuse, Aljaž Škorjanec, Giovanni Pernice, Karen Hauer, and Katya Jones.

But it’s not yet known if the new pros will be paired up with the celebrities this year, or will just be relegated to the group dances instead.

Despite being the latest batch of fresh-faced newcomers on the long-running dance competition, the pros have years of experience under their belts.

Kai, 25, is a former World Junior Latin American title holder, and also appeared on Dancing With The Stars Ireland.

Ukrainian dancer Nikita, 23, is a six-time Latin and Ballroom National Champion in Italy, as well as serving as a pro dancer on Let’s Dance Germany.

Cameron, 20, is the current South African Latin Champion dancer, while Jowita, 26, won the 2014 Polish Open Latin Championship.

And under the mentorship of Oti Mabuse, Jowita also won the BBC One show The Greatest Dancer in 2020 alongside her boyfriend Michael Danilczuk.

As well as Strictly regulars Oti, Aljaž, Giovanni, Karen, and Katya returning, familiar faces including Amy Dowden, Dianne Buswell, Gorka Marquez, Graziano Di Prima, Johannes Radebe, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova, Nancy Xu and Neil Jones will be coming back for the 19th series of the hugely successful dancing show.

The celebrities included in this year’s line-up are McFly singer Tom Fletcher, Loose Women presenter Judi Love, Coronation Street’s Katie McGlynn, Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Tilly Ramsay and former EastEnders’ actress Nina Wadia.

Rugby Union ace Ugo Monye was also confirmed to be taking part, as well as former Great British Bake Off winner John Waite, BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker, comedian and actor Robert Webb, and Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer Adam Peaty.

Fans of the show are excited to see Strictly back on their screens every Saturday and Sunday night, and viewers are already speculating if this year will see the return of the famed pilgrimage to the birthplace of ballroom, Blackpool.

The highly anticipated episode usually takes place towards the end of the series, but was scrapped last year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

However, fans are hoping that the celebrities and professionals will be able to perform in the stunning ballroom at Blackpool Tower.

There were only 12 celebrities taking part in last year’s show, but this year, the line-up is back to the full 15.

While no start date has been confirmed by BBC bosses, it has been rumoured that Strictly will kick off in September.
