Andrew Morton, the author of the updated book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t give themselves long at all to get used to royal life

Meghan Markle had a “rambunctious” education about the royal family due to a “jaded” Prince Harry, an author has claimed.

Meghan spent just under two years as a working royal after marrying Harry before the pair quit the family in early 2020.

Earlier this year, in her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said she grew up not knowing anything about the royal family and added she didn’t know what it meant to be a working royal.

And according to Andrew Morton, the author behind the unauthorised biography Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, Meghan had to learn about the royals from Harry.

Appearing on ITV’s This Morning, he said : “As she [Meghan] said herself, she didn’t read the tabloids, she didn’t watch TMZ.

“She learnt what she learnt about the Royal Family from Harry.

“Harry himself was quite jaded with the Royal Family even before this, so she’s had a very rambunctious education into the royal world.

“She has had members of the household give her advice, and she’s a quick study, but even so.

“I think it takes many years for someone to accommodate themselves into the Royal Family, and these two didn’t give it very long at all.”

Later this month, an updated version of Meghan: A Hollywood Princess is being released with six new chapters.

Among the new claims in the updated book are that Meghan and Harry thought a lovely picture of the Queen and her three heirs Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George was ” unspoken code” about their royal future and that they suspected the “entire institution was conspiring against them”.

When it comes to Meghan’s relationship with the Duchess of Cambridge, it is claimed that Kate didn’t have “much energy” to get to know and bond with Meghan in the lead up to the Sussex wedding as she was going through a difficult pregnancy with Louis.

Morton also claims that despite the tensions and much-discussed row between the women at a bridesmaid dress fitting, Meghan bought Kate a bracelet to thank her for the wedding preparation help.

Meanwhile, Morton, who wrote a bestselling book on Princess Diana, also writes the late princess is the “third wheel” in Harry and Meghan’s marriage and that her “ghost” looms over the couple’s lives and defines their view of the world.
