Jorge Masvidal has backed rapper Machine Gun Kelly in a fantasy fight with Conor McGregor after the two clashed at the MTA Video Music Awards.

McGregor and the singer – real name Colson Baker – were involved in an altercation at the awards in New York on Sunday night with video footage showing McGregor throwing a punch and his drink.

Reports suggested McGregor had asked Baker for a photograph but these claims were later denied by the UFC star and his team.

The combat sports world has since reacted to the incident, with Masvidal mocking McGregor by backing Kelly in a fight between the two.

He wrote on Twitter : “Yo Triller set this up. In a five rounder I got my money on Machine Gun Kelly #supernecessary”

McGregor and Masvidal have exchanged words in the past with a potential fight being discussed between the two UFC stars.

But the ‘BMF’ champion Masvidal has dismissed the fight stating McGregor is too “small” and “fragile” to fight him.

He said: “I’m full man size. He’s like a very small, fragile dude. He don’t want that. You can’t pay that man enough money, so that one’s OK. (I) don’t need it.”

McGregor played down the altercation when he spoke to reporters on the red carpet at the Barclays Center.

When asked what happened, he told Entertainment Tonight : “I dunno. I just showed up and, I don’t even know the guy to be honest with you. Nothing happened with me, I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight.

Who should Conor McGregor fight next? Let us know in the comments below.

“I certainly don’t fight little Vanilla Ice white rappers. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.”

McGregor’s spokesperson released a statement which read: “Conor McGregor did not ask anyone for a picture, nor did he instigate this incident. He does not know Machine Gun Kelly, outside of the fact that he attended Conor’s fight this past July.”

Kelly’s team declined to comment on the incident.

McGregor is currently sidelined after breaking his tibia in his UFC 264 loss to Dustin Poirier. The Irishman recently came off crutches for his injury and can walk again without aid.

UFC president Dana White believes the former two-weight champion will make a return to the cage next summer.
