James Corden dressed up in a mouse costume and was seen grinding his hips at surprised motorists in LA in order to promote new Amazon Prime movie Cinderella
James Corden has caused a stir by dressing as a mouse and grinding his hips at LA motorists.
He took to the streets with fellow cast members of the upcoming Cinderella musical, which will be released on Amazon Prime next month.
Corden was one participant in a flash mob that included fellow cast members Camilla Cabello, Billy Porter, and Idina Menzel singing “Let’s Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez at non-plussed motorists.
The cast then each approach the driver’s side window, and when Corden approaches he proceeds to grind his hips at the car’s stunned occupants, one of whom responds with a surprised “oh wow”.
Corden is involved in the upcoming project, as both an actor and producer, and plays a mouse who is transformed into a human.
Popstar Cabella stars in the title role, lending her take on the iconic fairytale princess.
Meanwhile Pose star Billy Porter plays the gender-fluid ‘fairy godparent’ who assists Cinderella when she wants to go to the ball.
The stunt is likely a promotional campaign for the show, as the cast took to the streets in costumes to strut their stuff in front of commuters.
Twitter users were bemused by the clip, with one commenting: “I did not need to see James Corden humping the air in a rat costume, but okay.”
Another added: “James cordon thrusting a wind mirror in a mouse suit is going to be on my nightmares tonight. I can’t even remember the last time he was funny.”
More added: “OPEN MESSAGE TO JAMES CORDON: Do not come near my car at a stoplight. You are on notice” and “If James Cordon stopped me in traffic and hip thrusted at me I’d have a brain aneurysm so strong my head would explode.”
The clip of the cringing drivers and dancing cast has so far been viewed 4.7 million times.
Corden’s casting drew a mixed response when the trailer was released, asking how the former Gavin and Stacey star has managed to land so many roles in musicals.

His appearance in the trailer drew raised eyebrows from some viewers, who questioned how the actor and talk show host manages to land so many roles.
The new adaptation of the classic fairy tale will see Cinderella trying to fulfil her ambition of becoming a fashion businesswoman.
But when the handsome Prince Charming arrives on the scene, Cinderella will have to find a way to balance her ambition with wanting to settle down with the prince.
The film will also feature appearances from Minnie Driver and former James Bond Pierce Brosnan as Queen Beatrice and King Rowan.
Cinderella was written and directed by Kay Cannon, who also did Pitch Perfect and Girlboss, and will be released on Amazon Prime on September 3.
