How Man Utd’s 14 loaned out players are faring this season as Pereira shines

Manchester United have a host of players out on loan this season across Europe the UK and beyond, here Mirror Football takes a look at the stars to see how they are doing

Manchester United, like all of Europe’s top teams, have a host of stars out on loan every season.

This is a mixture of youngsters looking to impress and work a route into the first-team, and older players try to fight their way back into contention or put themselves in the shop window for a move.

United have the second most expensive squad globally, so competition is stiff for places but a number of stars have been impressing out on loan.

From South America, across Europe to the English leagues, United loan stars are all trying to seize their opportunity.

Here Mirror Football takes a look at United’s loan stars and how they’re faring this season.

Andreas Pereira of Flamengo

Andreas Pereira – Flamengo

Andreas Pereira has been on United’s books since he was a teenager, and has impressed on his loan stint in his home country.

The 25-year-old has already netted twice this season in his five appearances and a part of the Flamengo side which has reached the final of the Cope Libertadores.

However, despite his positive start to the season, he might now be facing a six-game ban for violating isolation protocols.

Pereira has been accused of only doing seven days isolation instead of 14 and has been summoned to Brazil’s Superior Sports Court for Football to be judged on October eighth.

Facundo Pellistri

Facundo Pellistri is spending the season on loan at Alaves and played thirty minutes in the team’s shock win over La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan winger has returned to Alaves after spending the end of last season there too.

He has largely featured as a substitute during his loan time and struggled to become a starter.

Brandon Williams

The talented full-back has remained in the Premier League, playing for a struggling Norwich side who are yet to register a win.

Despite Williams tough start to life at Norwich, he has impressed.

New boss Daniel Farke, after the Arsenal loss, said: “Brandon deserves lots of plaudits because of how he defended a player like Pepe with lots of quality, he was outstanding in many dangerous situations close to and in the box.”

Williams, 21, is the second oldest in the Canaries defence and as such shoulders a lot of responsibility and is in line for a good amount of first-team football as well.

Axel Tuanzebe

After United brought in veteran and World Cup winner Raphael Varane, Axel Tuanzebe’s chances of first-team football were limited.

The England youth international returned to Aston Villa this season, the club he helped secure promotion to the Premier League in previous loan spells there.

Tuanzebe has featured regularly for Villa so far this season, and The Sun have reported that the centre-back is comfortable there, and intent on making it a permanent move.

Villa and Tuanzebe have impressed so far this season, sitting tenth with some impressive performances and wins, like a 1-0 win over United, under their belt.

And the rest …

A number of United players continue to impress in the Championship whilst on loan.

Tahith Chong has been playing regularly for Birmingham City, the tricky winger has been impressed and hailed by Birmingham manager Lee Bowyer for his skill and work rate.

He scooped up a man of the match award as his team dispatched Wayne Rooney’s struggling Derby County.

Ethan Laird has been putting in a number of good performances for Swansea, despite the team’s poor form so far.

Nathan Bishop returned to United for a few days over the international break as the Red Devils continue to appraise their goalkeeping situation.

Playing at Nigel Clough’s Mansfield Town Bishop has been starting regularly and kept his first clean sheet recently.

In Scotland, Reece Devine has impressed since his debut at St Johnstone where he won man of the match on his first outing.

Brandon Williams moved on loan to Norwich from Man Utd

Also north of the border, Dylan Levitt has joined up with Dundee United where the midfielder has started regularly following on from a tough loan spell last season.

D’Mani Mellor has joined Salford City on loan as the League Two side angle for promotion.

James Garner has undergone a rough loan spell at Nottingham Forest after manager Chris Houghton was sacked.

Garner had been a stand-out player last season at Forest, but the turbulence of the club cannot help the youngster’s development.

Northern Ireland’s Ethan Galbraith has joined up with Doncaster Rovers for the season and impressed on his debut.

Teammate John Bostock complimented him on his performances. He said: “He came in yesterday and was really quiet, then goes and puts in such a good performance on his professional debut.”

Hull City have benefited from the presence of Di’Shon Bernard who has earned rave reviews from Hull fans and most recently earned a man of the match award for his defensive work.

Will Fish joined local team Stockport County and was another United loan star to win a man of the match award on his debut in the Conference Premier.
