Frankie Dettori appeared on Tuesday’s This Morning to promote his new book, but the conversation soon turned to his relationship with Her Majesty

Frankie Dettori has commented on the Queen’s recent hospital stay and said she looked ‘tired’ the last time he saw her.

The 50-year-old Italian star appeared on Tuesday’s This Morning to discuss is new book with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

However, Phillip was keen to mention Frankie’s relationship with the Queen and said: “There’s an awful lot of the Queen on your social media. There seems to be a real affection between you and her?”

“Yeah, I hope she gets well soon, your Majesty,” Frankie said. “She is a wonderful lady, she has horses in my stable and yeah I saw her last Saturday at the races.”

Phillip then interjected: “How was she?” to which Frankie replied: “I must say she she looked a little bit tired and she does a lot for this country, for the world.

“I heard that she’s been in hospital, I hope she gets well. She is amazing, there is no other word to say what she is.”

Phillip then mentioned her knowledge of horses, to which Frankie added: “Absolutely incredible, what an amazing human being, she also likes a joke and a laugh, she is amazing.”

The Queen was admitted to King Edward VII’s Hospital last Wednesday for her first overnight stay in a medical setting in eight years.

Buckingham Palace kept the Queen’s stay in hospital a secret, saying on Wednesday she was resting at Windsor and in good spirits after pulling out of a Northern Ireland visit.

This week it’s been reported that she has been forced to give up her daily walks with her beloved pooches.

The 95-year-old monarch is known to enjoy walking her dogs – two corgi puppies and a dorgi, which is a cross between a corgi and a dachshund – on the grounds of her Windsor estate.

The daily walks are said to be a “tonic”, but she is following doctors’ orders to rest after undergoing preliminary tests and spending a night in a private London hospital last week.

It is said that the Queen has been taking the orders seriously while undertaking some “light duties” at Windsor Castle.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
