Adam Woodyatt has reportedly signed up to star in this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The 53-year-old legendary EastEnders star, who is known for playing Ian Beale ever since the BBC soap began in 1985, is on a break from the show and is thought to have been one of the ITV bosses main choices for this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

According to sources, the soap star is hoping to show TV viewers a completely different side of himself – after decades of playing snivelling Albert Square resident, Ian.

And he is reported to be receiving a “bumper pay deal” to feature on the ITV reality series – which is set to return to Wales this years.

EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt is said to be heading to I’m A Celeb

A source told The Sun: “Adam was a big target for the casting team — he is a soap legend and is certain to be a huge hit with fans.

“But they knew they might have their work cut out because he has been quite reticent to do interviews or reality TV shows in recent years.

“When you consider how long he has been a household name, he has only agreed to a handful of TV appearances outside of Albert Square. And he isn’t known for being a red carpet regular either.

Adam has been enjoying life out of the limelight since starting an extended break from EastEnders earlier this year

“So it’s a huge coup to have reached this point, and everyone is very excited about having him on the show. He’s a brilliant addition.”

Adam has featured on EastEnders since 1985 – beginning his iconic role when he was just a teenager.

He departed the BBC soap earlier this year – with his character running away from Albert Square after childhood friend turned wife Sharon Watts, played by Letitia Dean, attempted to kill him in revenge for the death of her son, Den – whose death was partly Ian’s fault after he locked Den inside a sinking boat.

Adam revealed earlier this year he would be taking an extended leave from the show after decades of service across thousands of episodes.

And his break from the show is said to extend until the new year – meaning his character will be away from Albert Square until 2022.

Richard Madeley is also tipped to appear in the upcoming series of I’m A Celeb

Joining the cast of I’m A Celeb will see the TV star join other famous faces as they sleep in the chilly shadows of Gwrych Castle in Wales and confronting Bush Tucker Trials.

Fellow TV icon Richard Madeley has been unveiled as a contestant for the 2021 series.

It was revealed on Wednesday that the 65-year-old broadcaster was going to be paid £200,000 to take part in the upcoming 21st series of the hit show.
