EastEnders has cast former Waterloo Road star and musician Heather Peace in the role of Eve Unwin, who will make her on-screen debut in the Autumn
Musician and former Waterloo Road and Lip Service star Heather will make her dramatic on-screen debut in Walford in the Autumn.
The character of Eve Unwin is a former convict who follows Stacey Slater ( Lacey Turner ) back to her home in Albert Square after they struck up a friendship in prison.
Eve’s arrival comes as Stacey Slater returns from prison after a six-month stint for pushing former pal Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) down a flight of stairs – a crime she did not commit.
The storyline helped facilitate actress Lacey Turner’s maternity leave for the show as she welcomed her second child earlier this year.
However, Stacey returns with a secret and one that will not stay secret for long.
As Eve clashes with the other loved ones in Stacey’s life, will Stacey be able to get her life back on track or is Eve about to cause a whole new spell of trouble for her?
Discussing her casting, Heather Peace revealed: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of Eastenders and I love my character Eve.
“She’s tough, but fair; super bright and cheeky. I’m loving working with such a brilliant cast, in particular Lacey Turner.
“We immediately got on and sparked off each other which makes going to work easy & fun.”

Meanwhile, EastEnders’ executive producer Jon Sen added of her casting: “We are delighted to welcome Heather Peace to the cast of EastEnders, she is playing a fascinating character in Eve and her arrival in Albert Square will be sure to cause a whole lot of mayhem which we can’t wait to explore, particularly through her relationship with Stacey and the rest of the Slater clan.
“Heather brings the perfect amount of boldness and wit to the role and we can’t wait to introduce her to the fans.”

It is bound to be a dramatic time for Stacey with Eve’s arrival, mum Jean’s apparent illness, and the return of old nemesis Janine Butcher ( Charlie Brooks ) to Albert Square.
In case that wasn’t enough, Ruby Allen will be departing the Square herself as actress Louisa Lytton goes on maternity leave.
What will the future hold for Stacey Slater now?
*EastEnders continues tonight at 8.05pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
