Coronation Street star Sam Aston shared the news he is set to become a dad for the second time in the cutest way ever on Wednesday night
The star shared the happy news with his fans online with a sweet autumnal themed post.
Taking to his Instagram page, the Chesney Brown actor announced his partner’s pregnancy with the help of their 14-month-old son Sonny.
Wearing a rainbow jumper, the young child child can be seen holding a sign and surrounded by four pumpkins – with two smaller than the others.
“We’re adding another pumpkin to our patch. Due Spring 2022” the sign reads.
Mum-to-be Briony also shared the sweet snap to her own Instagram page, adding a star emoji as the caption.
Fans and celebrity pals were quick to wish couple well – with many commenting underneath Sam’s cute post.
Coronation Street co-star Sally Ann Matthews was one of the first from the cobbles to comment, writing: “Oh my!!! Congratulations to you both x”
Faye Windass actress Ellie Louise Leach added: “ahhhh congrats guys!!!”
Alexandra Mardell, who plays the role of Emma Brooker in the ITV soap, wrote: “Congrats guys! So cute.”
Sam and Briony became parents for the first time last year when they welcomed Sonny into the world in August.
The couple’s first child arrived six weeks early, with new mum Briony sharing the news at the time saying: “He calmly entered our world 6 weeks early on 11.08.20 at 5lbs 7oz and we couldn’t be more in love.”
The doting parents became husband and wife back in 2019 – tying the knot at Stock Farm in Cheshire after a two-year-long engagement.
Sam, who was just 10-years-old when he joined Coronation Street, described becoming a dad as “an out of body experience.”
Speaking with OK! ahead of Sonny’s first birthday, the 28-year-old was quizzed about whether his on-screen character being a dad to five kids on the cobbles prepared him for fatherhood.
Chesney has 5 children, Joseph Brown with Katy Armstrong, and quads Carys Brown, Llio Brown, Bryn Brown and Aled Brown with Gemma Winter.
“I think it did for holding a baby, but it’s not like I’m getting up in the night and changing their nappies!” Sam confessed.
“They only bring them on set for the take, so I hold them for a bit and then they go off with a chaperone or their mum. I don’t think anything can prepare you for your first!”
In the same interview, the Corrie legend also joked about the similarities he and his son share.
“Everybody says he’s definitely not the milkman’s!” the actor quipped.
“My mother-in-law said, ‘If you ever can’t make it into work at least you’ve got a stand-in!’ “
The dad-of-one also described fatherhood as “amazing” and spoke of the journey involved in watching his premature child grow and be “doing so well.”
