Cher Lloyd ‘moved on’ from her famous spat with Cheryl for a quiet family life

Cher Lloyd shot to fame in 2010 when she appeared on The X Factor, but she was dubbed the country’s most hated teenager, and went on to be involved in several public spats with celebs including Jesy Nelson and her old mentor Cheryl

Former X Factor star Cher Lloyd was once famous for her bad reputation and bratty attitude but she’s now living a quiet life

Cher Lloyd has enjoyed a tumultuous career since she shot to fame in 2010 on The X Factor thanks to her bad girl attitude and barbed comments aimed at her fellow celebrities.

The singer was dubbed the country’s most hated teenager when she appeared on the ITV singing competition, and judge Louis Walsh said she was “too big for her boots” after reports of her diva-like behaviour backstage.

Cher’s solo career was short lived, and despite having a number 12 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US with Want You Back, she slipped into relative obscurity, with her subsequent single Oath reaching number 73.

She split from her American label in 2014, and even though her music career had hit the skids, Cher’s personal life was going from strength to strength.

In 2013, she secretly married hairdresser Craig Monk after less than a year of dating, and settled down to start a family.

She’s shunned her troublemaker image in recent years, and has become a first-time mum, welcoming baby daughter Delilah-Rae in 2018.

So, where is Cher Lloyd now?

Cher and her lookalike mentor Cheryl were embroiled in a bitter spat after The X Factor

The very public feud with former mentor Cheryl

Their friendship began in 2010, when 16-year-old Cher auditioned for The X Factor and impressed judge Cheryl, who said the teenager was “right up my street”.

Cher finished in fourth place on the ITV singing competition, and subsequently laid into her former mentor, and kicked off a bitter spat with the former Girls Aloud singer in 2012.

The Swagger Jagger hitmaker took aim at Cheryl’s singing skills, and said she would only perform with her “maybe if she sings live with me”.

That prompted a fiery response from the singer, who took to Twitter and posted: “Be careful who you kick on your way up. They kick you twice as hard on your way back down.. #unappreciationisugly.”

In an interview with GQ magazine, Cheryl suggested that Cher “needs to learn a lot”, and said her derogatory comment was “a slap in the face”.

“I went through hell to get her on that programme. Everyone says stuff at the beginning of their career that they will learn to regret,” she explained.

In 2018, Cher hinted that she and her former mentor had buried the hatchet, and carefully avoided getting into another war of words during an interview on ITV’s Lorraine.

When asked if she’d heard from Cheryl after she welcomed baby son Bear with then-boyfriend Liam Payne, Cher replied: “I haven’t heard from her in a long time, she’s so busy with the baby. She’s got baby!”

Fans suggested Jesy’s solo efforts were very similar to Cher’s early music

Her spat with Jesy Nelson

Cher was catapulted back to the spotlight once again earlier this month, after fans took to social media to compare Jesy Nelson’s debut single Boyz to her own solo efforts.

“Jesy Nelson giving me full Cher Lloyd vibes,” one wrote, as another tweeted: “Jesy Nelson vs Cher Lloyd. Asap!”

One fan suggested that Jesy’s single Boyz could have been “Cher Lloyd album track from 10 years ago,” and many agreed, with another Cher fan adding: “Not Jesy stealing Cher Lloyd’s flow bar for bar.”

After noticing she was trending on Twitter, Cher took to social media to hit back at the claims, and inadvertently caused more drama between her and Jesy.

“Oh hi. Okaaaay. While you are here stream my newer songs. None of my business is a bop. It’s not 2010 any more,” she wrote.

Her followers went wild, as they speculated she was taking aim at Jesy’s new song by saying it sounded like it was from 2010.

“My tweet was referring to people talking about my old music. Not anyone else’s,” she later clarified, telling her disappointed fans she “didn’t do drama”.

From bratty singer to doting mum

Cher tied the knot with hairdresser Craig Monk in a secret ceremony in November 2013, after dating for less than a year, but she revealed that despite getting married when she was just 20 years old, their relationship was “a fairytale”.

“I got married when I was 20, you know when you grow up and dream of that fairy tale of course we’ve had our ups and downs, but honest it is like a fairy tale with me and him,” she said during an appearance on Loose Women in 2019.

The couple moved back to the UK, and after renovating their dream house in Essex, they welcomed their first child, baby daughter Delilah-Rae in May 2018.

These days, Cher insists she’s a completely different person, and in an interview with The Guardian in 2020, she said she’s “moved on” from her bad girl image.

“I’m mother to a little girl. I’ve released two albums and I’ve got a top 10 hit in America. I’m not ‘the most hated teen’, I’m 26 years old! We’ve moved on!” she exclaimed.
