Les McKeown’s widow Peko Keiko has admitted that her husband’s death had come as a ‘terrible shock’.
The Bay City Roller’s wife, who was married to the musician for over four decades, has spoken for the first time following the death of her husband.
Peko, who had stuck by Les through numerous scandals, has reflected on her husband’s legacy and revealed that there were many good and hard times in their relationship.
While she admitted that his death was a shock, the mum of one also added that the musician was now ‘in peace’.
Speaking to the Mail Online for her first interview, Peko spoke of Les as a ‘good husband’ and reflected upon attending concerts with the couple’s son, Jubei.
“Leslie was a good husband but of course everybody has ups and downs. I went everywhere to the concerts with our son. We had lots of good times and hard times,” she said.
She added: “Leslie struggled with his own demons. His dying is a terrible shock but now he is in peace.”

Peko and Les met in 1978 before they married five years later.
Although their relationship faced several hurdles throughout the years, in 2009 Les had praised his wife for being ‘incredible’ and for keeping the family together.
It had also emerged that Peko had stuck by Les’ side despite it emerging that he had 12 gay affairs in the past.
Leslie spoke to The Scottish Sun in 2009 and said: “Peko’s an incredible woman. There have been times when she’s forgiven me for cheating with other women. I think this has been harder.
“This gay thing has been really hard for her to confront.
“She has been a big rock holding the family together and I’m really lucky to have her.”
Tributes have poured in for the musician after news of his death was confirmed on the band’s Facebook page with a statement from his family.
It read: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband and father Leslie Richard McKeown. Leslie died suddenly at home on Tuesday 20 April 2021.
