A maintenance man named Kev leapt to Rachel’s aid and spent the next hour searching for the ring.

Miraculously, he found it at the shopping centre and was praised for his heroic efforts by Rachel

Manchester Evening News told how she has since shared a photo of Kev to Facebook alongside a heartwarming post.

She wrote: “This guy right here is an absolute hero. He works at the Mill Gate, Bury as a maintenance guy.

“Please share this so he can see how much he made my day and how amazing he is at his job.

“Today at Costa Coffee in Bury me and my mum were sat at a table having a coffee and carrot cake.

“We were talking about my rings and I took my wedding ring off and it bounced off the table and right into a grid/sewer. Me and my mum gasped with utter shock. I honestly felt like I was going to throw up.

“To say I was devastated would be an under statement. 10 year we’ve been married last month and I thought my ring was gone forever.

“Lots of customers sat around us were mortified and praying and watching in shock. I tearfully asked a lady who worked for the Mill Gate if there was anyone who could help me.”

Explaining how Kev found the ring, Rachel added: “He literally spent over and hour pulling out loads of junk and mud and putting it into bags and buckets with his bare hands!

“All the customers were watching his every move hoping and praying for me. He then spent half an hour washing and going through it all again with his bare hands.

“He was so kind and patient and never gave up looking for me.

“The ring was no where to be seen. I was convinced I’d lost it forever I was ready to have a breakdown.

“However in his very last handful of mud there was my ring.

“He has no idea how much he made my day. I was so so lucky that he managed to find it for me. Literally in tears now when I think it over.

“He is an absolute legend and really does deserves every praise possible. I will never ever take my rings off again, nor will I ever look at a carrot cake again the same.”
