Aston Villa hero Gabby Agbonlahor reckons Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is better than Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.
Both Edouard and Abraham have been linked with a move to Villa Park ahead of the summer transfer window with the former looking certain to depart Parkhead at the end of the season.
Abraham, meanwhile, still has admirers at Villa according to reports in the national press after his 26 goals for Dean Smith ‘s side in the promotion-winning season of 2018-19.
Villa will likely look to sign a striker this summer and have been linked with a £20 million switch for Edouard.
Smith currently has Keinan Davis, who registered his first assist in the Premier League against Fulham on Sunday, as back-up to Ollie Watkins.
Wesley Moraes remains out with a serious knee injury.
Abraham is struggling for game-time at Chelsea having seen his prospects of match-action cut short by the arrival of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
Agbonlahor, meanwhile, has heaped praise on Edouard with the France Under-21 international rated higher than Abraham, Werner and Olivier Giroud.
“If he came to Chelsea today, he’d be their best striker,” Agbonlahor said on radio station talkSPORT.
“I rate him highly. He reminds me of Dembele.
“Dembele was at Celtic and he left. Edouard, he can hold the ball up, run in behind, he’s very skilful.”
“I think it’s (Edouard playing in the Premier League) a great shout.
“I rate him higher than Abraham, Werner and Giroud.”
On Abraham, Agbonlahor said: “I think it is a bit unfair on Abraham and Giroud, to be honest, that they are not getting a chance.
“He (Werner) hasn’t got the confidence and he just needs a little bit of time out of the team.
“Bring Giroud or Abraham in and give them the chance they deserve.”
