While BlackRock has indicated a likely slowdown in recruitment, other City fund managers have pledged to keep up the pace of recruitment, following in the footsteps of London law firms, who told Financial News they’re still in hiring mode.

Roman Meyer was named head of the strategic equity solutions group in Emea at Bank of America.
Meyer has worked at Bank of America for 11 years, having joined from Nomura in 2011. He is currently a managing director in the strategic equity solutions unit. He will report to Sambacor N’Diaye, who is the global co-head of the strategic equity solutions team.
Eddie Donmez has been appointed as the new lead content creator and global markets analyst at Finimize, an investment insights website and app acquired by asset management giant Abrdn last year.
Donmez joins from Amplify Trading, a financial education company, where he had been serving as a director since October 2021. Before joining Amplify Trading, he led an international team of 30-plus people as the head of AmplifyMe to distribute Amplify Trading’s proprietary technology.
Accounting firm RSM appointed Dr Robert Coles as the organisation’s first chief culture and transformation officer. Coles will lead a number of transformation initiatives, working closely with RSM’s managing partners and the global leadership team.
He joins the firm from the Roffey Park Institute, an executive education provider working with government, civil administration and businesses around the world, where he has been CEO since 2018.
Robeco appointed David Thomas as senior portfolio manager to complement the investment team of the forthcoming RobecoSAM Biodiversity strategy.
Thomas comes from Ellerston Capital, where he was a portfolio manager, managing multiple strategies including a fund for one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth asset owners. He brings 28 years of experience in financial markets, having previously worked for global corporations such as PwC, Macquarie Bank, Morgan Stanley and CLSA.
Schroders appointed Darren Bustin as head of Schroders Solutions Capabilities from Royal London Asset Management where he was head of derivatives.
Bustin brings over 15 years of investment experience to Schroders Solutions, having specialised in derivative investment overlays and derivatives trading.
Patrick Thomson, Emea chief executive at JPMorganAsset Management, has been appointed chair of the Investment Association’s board. Thomson will replace Keith Skeoch and assume his role as chair at the AGM on 27 September 2022.
Thomson will be responsible for championing the investment management industry and ensuring the priorities of its firms and their customers are heard by policymakers and regulators.
GAM named Sally Orton, currently deputy chief financial officer, as CFO of the group and a member of the group’s management board.
Orton has 15 years’ experience in accounting practice, qualifying with KPMG in Australia ahead of moving to the UK where she spent a combined 10-year period with PwC and EY, specialising in audit and advisory assignments for banking and capital markets firms.
