Oscars 2021: Colman Domingo stands out in a hot pink Versace suit while on the red carpet

Colman Domingo stands out from the crowd in a hot pink Versace suit while on the red carpet at the 2021 Oscars

Colman Domingo made a major statement on the red carpet of the 93rd Academy Awards on Sunday.

The 51-year-old actor showed up outside of Union Station in Los Angeles ready to turn heads as he wore an eye-catching hot pink custom-made Versace suit.

Although the performer himself is not nominated for any awards, he was involved in the production of the 2020 film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which has been put up for five separate distinctions.

Looking good! Colman Domingo wore a nearly all-fuschia outfit while walking on the red carpet at the 93rd Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday

Domingo wore a single-buttoned Versace jacket that featured an embroidered liquid effect that was comprised of thousands of Swarovski crystals and sequins.

He paired his top with a vest and a shirt that featured the same shiny material running down the middle of his chest, which added an element of pop to his clothing ensemble.

The Fear The Walking Dead actor tied off his outfit with a pair of pleated pants and several articles of gold jewelry.

The only deviation from the fuschia color of his clothing was a pair of highly reflective patent leather shoes.

The actor later made a post to his Instagram account to let his followers know exactly what went into the creation of his eye-catching outfit.

He is also set to host the Oscars After Dark special alongside Andrew Rannells, who will assist the performer in conducting interviews with the ceremony’s winners.

Domingo was involved in the production of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which was originally released in November of last year.

The George C. Wolfe-directed feature was adapted from the 1982 play of the same name, which was written by August Wilson.

The film follows the titular character and her various members of her backing band as they navigate professional and personal issues during a tumultuous recording session in the 1920’s.

Other performers involved in the project include Glynn Turman, Michael Potts and Jonny Coyne, as well as Taylour Paige.

Maxayn Lewis provided the singing voice for the feature’s titular character.

The Netflix-released movie was released to widespread critical acclaim and its cast and crew have recently won several distinctions for their work on the feature.

Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman were nominated for the awards for Best Actress and Actor, respectively, for their work on the project.

The late actor passed away during the post-production stages of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, making the feature his last film appearance.

Sergio Lopez-Rivera, Jamika Wilson and Mia Neal have all been put up for the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Ann Roth received a nomination for Best Costume Design.

Diana Sroughton, Mark Ricker and Karen O’Hara were nominated for the award for Best Production Design.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is hosting the delayed ceremony at the historic Union Station in Los Angeles, California where socially distanced movie stars can go mask-free while on-camera or seated in the main show room.

Sticking to a ‘No Zoom’ policy unlike other shows that have taken place this awards season, Academy organizers have teased a ‘British hub’ for UK actors who are unable to make it in person, as well as another rumored ‘surprise location.’

An official spokesperson called this year’s event ‘an Oscars like none other, while prioritizing the public health and safety of all those who will participate.’

Big changes: This year's ceremony was heavily affected by COVID-19, as several safety measures have been put in place for the attendees and the show's crew alike
